Learning Adjustments

Schools within the Diocese of Sale support the implementation of Learning Adjustments with a Learning Adjustment Leader.  This leader is supported by the
Inclusive Education Team in Warragul. Their work is underpinned by the
Disability Standards for Education (DSE).

For some students, it is necessary that they receive additional support to enable them to access the curriculum. These supports which we call, ‘adjustments’ are created in partnership with parents.

Documentation of learning adjustments within a students’ personalised learning plan are written and reviewed, whilst also reflected in the teacher’s work program. The Learning Adjustment Leader organises regular Program Support Group (PSG) meetings with the classroom teacher and parent. Students who require lower levels of adjustment discuss their goals with the parents and classroom teacher at learning conversations, using an adjusted learning plan across each semester (two terms of schooling). Where possible, student voice is incorporated into these meetings, to empower them as learners. Students who receive at least a term or 10 weeks of additional learning adjustments, will be included on the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).

At Don Bosco, we employ Education Support Officers (ESOs) to assist teachers to enact the adjustments outlined in student learning plans.
